Solar Hub Fiji completes solar installation at Tourism Fiji HQ

18 Oct 2024

Solar Hub Fiji has completed a solar installation at the Tourism Fiji headquarters, a tangible milestone in our partnership to champion renewable energy across Fiji.

The project puts clean, engineer-designed solar to work at one of the country's most visible organisations, showing what's possible for Fijian businesses ready to cut power costs and their carbon footprint. See the Tourism Fiji case study →

Why this install matters for Fijian businesses

Most businesses use the bulk of their electricity during daylight hours, exactly when rooftop solar generates. Offices, shops and workplaces that run air conditioning, computers and lighting through the working day are the best possible match for solar, because the power is used the moment it is made rather than exported or stored.

That is what makes a commercial install like this one such a clear statement. When the national tourism body puts panels on its own roof, it tells every operator in the sector that solar is not an experiment in Fiji. It is working infrastructure on one of the most prominent buildings in the industry.

What goes into a commercial install

Every Solar Hub Fiji commercial project follows the same engineering-led path. It starts with a free site assessment, where we look at the roof, the switchboard and the building's real usage pattern. An engineer then designs the system around that data, sizing the array to the building's daytime load rather than guessing. Installation is handled by our own team on cyclone-rated mounting engineered for high wind loads, and we manage the Energy Fiji Limited paperwork and approvals end to end.

The result is a system designed for Fiji's conditions: strong year-round sun, tropical heat and humidity, and cyclone season. That is also why we build with tier-1 equipment backed by manufacturer warranties.

Thinking about solar for your organisation?

Whether you run an office, a resort, a store or a manufacturing site, the starting point is the same: understand what your building uses and what its roof can generate. Our team scopes that at no cost and gives you an honest picture in Fijian dollars.

Explore our commercial solar services, browse more real Fiji installs, or talk to the team about your site. For larger energy users, we also design power purchase agreement (PPA) options with zero upfront cost.

Quick answers for business owners

Does solar survive cyclone season? That is an engineering question, and the answer is in the mounting. Our systems sit on cyclone-rated structures designed for high wind loads, which is non-negotiable for anything we put on a Fiji roof.

What about power cuts? A grid-tied commercial system offsets daytime costs; adding battery storage keeps essential circuits running through EFL outages. Which way to go depends on how much an hour of downtime costs your business, and we will show you both options in the proposal.

How do we find out if our building suits solar? One free site assessment. We look at the roof, the switchboard and twelve months of usage, then an engineer designs around the data.
